I currently have an iphone 3G that I find nothing particularly wrong with other than Apple really locking it down, but I've been looking at moving to an Android phone. The one that has really drawn my attention is the Evo 4G that is being released. Not only that but I like the Sprint pricing plan in comparison to what I am paying right now. Anyone else have an Android phone or something else I should be looking at? I know that Verizon has a lot of good phones as well, but their pricing wasn't that great.

Just updated my 3GS to the 4.0 OS and it's nice, although I already had multitasking since i had it jailbroken (which is very easy nowadays, I suspect I'll be able to jailbreak 4.0 in a few weeks).

Nexus Android phone is not bad either. For me though Iphone does it (especially jailbroken for the details), however ATT's network coverage sucks compared to Verizon, no doubt about that...

I have the 3G, so I was SOL when it came to multitasking, but some of the things they have added are nice. My contract doesn't end until September, so I have some time to checkout any new phones before then. As of now I'm still leaning towards the Evo 4G on Sprint. I went to the coast two weekends ago and could not get any data coverage. The service was fine, but I couldn't browse the web, check email, etc. It was rather strange and annoying.

I have an android, I've used both, I like both. Whatever you are more comfortable with, I wouldn't say one was better then the other. You get a ton of apps either way, apple filters theirs though where as you can get a bunch of crap apps with android.

Well there are plenty of crappy apps for the iphone too. Search kama sutra and you'll see plenty of ridiculous apps. I'm actually happy with my phone, but not so much with ATT. If I move to another provider there is no reason I shouldn't get an android phone. What sucks is that if I get an Evo 4G I have to pay $10 for a premium data plan, so the total will be $79.99 for unlimited data/text and 450 minutes. ATT is getting the HTC Aria, but it seems underpowered compared to all the other cool android phones out there. Luckily I have till late Sept. Maybe a cool phone will pop up before then.

There's always consistent rumors of the Iphone being available for Verizon soon, but I've heard them for so long that I would not hold my breath on this one :). I suspect it will eventually happen, but when???

I don't know that it will ever happen, Verizon only works in the states, most people want international abilities to their phone.

I was at Pismo this last weekend and a bartender there had the new Droid X. That sucker is huge. When compared side by side with my iphone it wasn't really that much bigger, but I think the iphone is already too big to go in my pocket most of the time. If I was thinking of going Verizon I would definitely give that phone a glance. Pretty soon we'll be carrying around devices as big as ipads.

one of our patients that works for verizon said iphone is supposed to be coming to verizon in about 9 months. Who knows though, the video chat function on the new phone is pretty cool though. I've heard rumours that Tmobile may even carry it within the year.

It would certainly be easier for T-Mobile to carry the iPhone as it uses the same technology as AT&T does for data encapsulation... Or whatever those people call it that work on mobile devices. As for Verizon carrying the iPhone... iunno. That seems quite unlikely considering how they've been in bed with Google for the Android series and it would have to get ported to Verizon's type of network.
